We are committed to designing, testing and delivering all content on the website to WCAG 2.0 AA compliance where possible. The standards we test against are taken from the technical standard Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Some of the specific actions we take include:
- We try to write all our content in plain English, to make sure that it is useful to as many people as possible.
- Content is separated by appropriate headings for ease of reading by humans and screen reading software.
- Hyperlinks are as descriptive as possible, describing their purpose and location as necessary.
- We avoid using text in images where possible, and always try to include text to describe image content.
We use guidance from the Readability Guidelines project on language, hyperlinks and headers.
